Conversion coatings, which are commonly known as phosphate coatings, are necessary to insure good adhesion of the metal surface with subsequent coatings such as paint. Specifically, good conversion coatings perform three necessary functions for effective coating adhesion which are; (1) clean the metal surface, (2) passivate the metal surface and (3) leave a "roughened" metal surface to improve coating adhesion.

NCOC offers a selection of iron phosphate conversion coatings. These products are the most economical method of phosphating as they are very concentrated and able to perform effective pretreatment in a single step.
